Job Purpose
The Director manages student success activities, supports recruitment and retention activities, for the College of Engineering. This role involves close collaboration with the University's Residential Life, and the Center for Career Development to foster a strong sense of community at Tennessee Tech. Additionally, the Director partners with the Office of Student Affairs to enhance student support programs. In conjunction with the Center for Student Engagement, the Director also oversees all aspects of student organizations within the College of Engineering. This includes providing guidance, resources, and strategic direction to ensure student organizations contribute to academic success, leadership development, and a vibrant college experience.

Essential Functions
  • Supports enrollment management (recruitment and retention) for college undergraduate domestic and international students. Coordinates with the Admissions Office, Office of Multicultural Affairs, and International Student Affairs Office to ensure the College enrollment plan is viable and optimizes the enrollment plan to align with the Admissions Office and International Student Affairs Office.
  • Leads and oversees the effective delivery of student support services in the College of Engineering. This includes coordinating and supporting ALL student organizations within the college to increase students' sense of belonging.
  • Develops and maintains scholarship selection and awarding process for College of Engineering college-wide scholarships for all undergraduate students.
  • Conduct assessment and evaluation of all enrollment management and student support programs/activities and draft necessary evaluation reports to evaluate program success.
  • Lead to organize and host the pre-college summer camps.
  • Coordinate with University Housing & Residential Life and Office of Student Affairs to host activities that instill a sense of belongingness among the College of Engineering students. Also, manage the related fiscal responsibilities.
  • Lead to organize and host all activities surrounding the annual Engineers' Week, Awards Banquet, Graduation, and Commencement.
  • Coordinate with community colleges to increase transfer student enrollment.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field with seven years of professional experience working with college-age students or a master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field with five years of professional experience working with college-age students. Leadership skills and ability to work related to student success is required. Experience in student affairs with a high level of understanding of best practices, policies, and legal issues in the field; Strong professional and interpersonal communication skills; An ability to interact and cooperate with students & faculty from a diverse background; Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree is preferred. Ability to manage and organize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Public speaking and presentation skills, with experience engaging with small and large groups. Conflict resolution and mediation skills, with the ability to navigate student concerns effectively.

Work Hours:

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Pay grade 11.
